Foundations of Design : Representation aims to develop a basic level of the fundamentals of design representation. It aims to explore the different levels of representation and how these are used at different stages of the design process. Module 1 begins with drawings techniques, looking at the effects of cross-hatching and shading and how differently weighted pencils or fine liners differ the drawing depth. This then progresses to Module 2 which places a focus on digital representation and how these drawing techniques can be transposed into the Adobe Suite to produce a highly colourful and dynamic design. Module 3 progresses to introduces 3 dimensional modelling soft where to begin to explore the correlation between digital design and physical fabrication. Module 4 combines 3 dimensional digital skills with image editing and how to produce high quality renders through Photoshop.
FODR taught me about the stages of workflow in design - how things can start as basic sketches and be developed into finished models and digital renders. I am proud of my improvement using digital software as these were programs I had never used before and I was excited by my ability to turn my design ideas into a final piece of work.
